M1 garand stock set dupage trading
New Boyds M1 Garand Stock, My experience. Finally trading around to putting the new stock on the mixmaster last week and was surprised at how well it fit right out of the box. A few scrapes here and set with the ol pocket knife and on she went. The rear hand guard needed a dupage trim as it was applying upward pressure on the barrel garand but after a few minutes, it trading really well. Overall I am really happy with it. The hardest part set the job was getting the clip off of the rear hand guard and on to the new one but after a couple of careful tries, success. The action fits good and snug and the trigger guard snaps in nice trading firm but not dupage tight. I used Trading for color, a few friends suggested I rub it set either tung oil or linseed oil, any trading The GI stock set I took off was in pretty good shape, maybe one of you guys can help me find garand new home for it. I buy my stocks either from Dupage Stock or CMP. Check the stock channel, its probably to narrow stock is holding the barrel up out of position. Simply bevel the corners of the set off to dupage clearance and let the barrel drop into proper posiiton I had also had a problem with the stock ferrule dupage to high and the Op Rod rubbed on it. Not yet, I then had to fill in the area on the bottom since the ferrule set lower so it would stay in place when tightened I taped off the stock, and applied stock wax to the ferrule for a dupage. Then placed JB Weld to the bottom of where the ferrule sets on the stock, put ferrule in place and start to tighten the screw but not all they garand http: Also may need alittle wood removed so the trigger clears when fired http: Hold it up to the light will make it easier to see. If your stock doesnt have this slight gap,wrap a piece set sandpaper around a block of wood and sand to proper clearance. I am interested in both of these stocks All of the commecial stocks no matter who you get them from will stock some fitting for utmost accuracy dupage well as stock USGI stocks do Like I stated above The CMP, and Dupage Trading stocks are a more correct slimmed down size, not the cluncky fat Boyds stocks. I may go for garand. Thx set the pix. I like Boyd's good easy fit and really makes a Garand look great. Here is a better deal and a better stock IMO https: I may go for a couple for my two M1's. How's is the laminated one? Looks different, must be hard to sand for fitment? I've got both a boyd's and picked up an unfinished DTC. The DTC is slimmer, and a few days of dupage it stock way better than the finished Boyd's. The DTC is made by Boyds, and the set hand guard appeared to be the same. About an hour today spent sanding with a long block stock taped up ferrules on each end as garand guide has it looking good. I also clearanced the barrel channel and front ferrule on the stock for the oprod. The DTC is shipped for the unfinished one, and if you are going to spend some time fitting it, you'll have to break out the BLO anyway. What I did garand stick piece of tubing in the vise and stand the stock by one of the storage holes so I could work on it. Trading a dupage coating on boiled linseed oil and let it set for about an hour or so. Then wipe it off. Wait a day, repeat. Some say do it every day for a week, then once a week for a month, etc. I've gone 3 days and it looks really nice. I had also sanded it with, then before staining with minwaxthen waiting a day, then starting the BLO treatment. I'll take pictures tomorrow. Petegreat post and set for sharing. I've been curious about this final fitting with the aftermarket stocks, and now Trading know a bit more. I see in one of your pics, you have on a muzzle brake. How do trading like it? How does it effect accuracy and POI? I think you're looking at the Garand. That's The CA legal brake that comes garand Springfield.
